Day 5 - Budva part dva

August 21

We began the day with breakfast at the hotel. Liz and Will enjoyed the cornbread muffins with mystery cheese and Joe G rather enjoyed having chicken wings for breakfast. We somewhat confuse the hotel staff by asking them if we could leave our bags in the hotel while we go to the beach. All gets conveyed and we head off for the beach. We'd done some recon as to where we wanted to go the day before and had picked a beach that we had to walk along a path at the bottom of a cliff to get to. As it turned out, we had to pay a euro to get there.

It was already hot and busy with people of all nations, though mostly Russian I think. We get set up with chaise lounges and umbrellas with which to hide from the intense, hot sun. Only the 2nd row off the water.

Liz is the first to give in to the heat and test the water. Her response, "if you want to drop your core body tempertaure, get in the water." As it turned out, the Adriatic is extremely cold and salty. The cold felt amazing after the heat of the beach - we nearly burned our feet getting to the water across the pebbly "sand." We spent several hours there alternately in the water or hiding in the shade of our umbrella reading.

We left around 1 or 1:30 to find lunch and get on our way back to Podgo. As we are leaving, we joke that Will and I are "in the village way" - he in a striped swimsuit and an unbottoned plaid shirt and me with just a short coverup on. After wandering through stari grad some more - Liz finally breaks down and buys some filigree (to the annoyance of the boys who were hungry and warm) in what turns out to be the shop Lexi had recommended in the first place - we have lunch at the Budva Juice Bar. After lunch we headed back to our hotel, got our bags, and a Podgo-bound bus. It was close to 5pm by the time we left.

We all had to clean up when we got back to T&L's apartment but then we headed for drinks at the Forum to see some of downtown Podgo and then on to a fabulous Italian dinner. Back to pack up for all of us to leave in the morning.
