burke lake

Last Saturday we had beautiful weather and Will wanted to get a few caches before we headed out to California, so we headed out to Burke Lake in hopes of finding about 14 caches.  To do so we hiked around the entire lake which is 4.5 miles itself with at least 2 .5-mile side trips off the main path.  It was a long day that wasn’t helped by the fact that I thought I knew where we were going while I was driving to the park but didn’t.

DSC_0012 DSC_0011The Park has a cute little train for the kids (and parents too) to ride around in, complete with junctions and “train stations.” DSC_0024DSC_0022 I documented all of Will’s finds for the day but here’s just a couple.DSC_0033DSC_0048
In one of our excursions off the main path, we came across some interesting things in the woods…

I think these were actually the remains of a building.

This was creepy.  We don’t know what it is and we certainly didn’t hang it up by the back of it’s eye socket in a tree…

We ended up getting 10 caches in the park.  One we just couldn’t find and another would have been the 3rd .5-mile side trip so I nixed it.
